"This was one of the best experiences I’ve had doing night photography and I cannot recommend his workshops enough”

I have always loved Astrophotography but going out alone can be a scary experience and I’ve always been hesitant since moving to a new city. Jason made this process more enjoyable and was very welcoming. With his approachable personality and ability to teach, we had the most incredible time during the workshop. I improved my photography skills and had fun doing it. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had doing night photography and I cannot recommend his workshops enough. Plus, being a fellow military veteran, he is able to teach in a way that makes it so easy to understand and everyone can learn something from him, whether a pro or novice photographer.

“I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a talented photographer or simply someone to connect with on a deeper level”

I had the pleasure of meeting Jason at a Soldier On event for astrophotography, where I can honestly say that he made a lasting impression on me. From the moment I met him, he was easy to get along with and had a warm and friendly demeanor that immediately put me at ease. It was almost like catching up with an old Army friend I've known for ages.

What struck me most about Jason was his passion for photography and his unwavering commitment to using it to promote wellbeing among fellow soldiers. He truly believes in the power of photography to heal and bring people together, and this shines through in everything he does. I found Jason to be a very positive and upbeat person who always had a smile on his face. He was easy to talk to and was genuinely interested in getting to know me and my story. I felt heard and understood in his presence, which is a testament to his empathetic nature and his ability to connect with others.

In short, Jason is a talented photographer and a wonderful human being. His passion for photography and his commitment to promoting wellbeing among soldiers is truly inspiring, and I feel lucky to say he is now a great friend of mine. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a talented photographer or simply someone to connect with on a deeper level.

“I was able to avoid all the beginner mistakes in taking my first astro photos. Jason made the process seamless and extremely enjoyable.”

As a photographer I always wanted to learn different genres of photography and astrophotography was at the top of that list for many reasons. The problem I had was I didn’t know where to start, if I needed special gear or lenses, and was also quite hesitant in going out by myself.

Furthermore, I wasn’t quite sure where the best locations to go were. Going out to shoot the stars with Jason took away that fear of all the unknowns of astrophotography. I was able to use the camera and lenses I had and Jason showed me how to get the most out of my gear. The main thing was that with his guidance, I was able to avoid all the beginner mistakes in taking my first astro photos. Jason made the process seamless and extremely enjoyable.

At first I wasn’t sure if I needed to actually take a workshop to learn astrophotography but going out and learning from Jason took away all doubts and saved me months of trying to learn what I learned in just a few hours with his course. I feel so much more comfortable being behind the camera in the dark thanks to Jason’s detailed instructions.

“He will guide and mentor your photographic journey and abilities to the next level.”

When I started capturing images with my Nikon D300 that I bought in Iraq whilst I was on deployment, it was to capture memories and pursue a hobby. 15 Years later that hobby has turned into a passion.

I initially wanted to shoot a long term photo documentary, that was until I met Jason Perry, A retired US Marine who was studying his bachelor's a year ahead of me. He introduced me to Astrophotography. He invited me to go out to Malmsbury with him one night and ever since then, I have been hooked.

I have traveled all over Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia, staring up into the night sky to capture the glory that is the Milky Way. It has become quite an intoxicating experience. From seeing meteorites burn through the night sky to the Aurora dance along the horizon, there is nothing really like it.

Jason’s guidance and mentoring is what has enabled me to get out and shoot. He’s helped me develop not only my shooting ability, he has also helped me refine and enhance my workflow processes with photoshop and Lightroom when it comes to editing. I encourage anyone and everyone to get out there and explore the Australian Landscape with Jason. He will guide and mentor your photographic journey and abilities to the next level.
